“Stayed at the
La Griffe for one night on returning to Rome, after a week
of travelling round Italy. The night in question was a Saturday
night (the famous notte bianco - white night), found the
staff to be excellent and very attentive, allowing us to
check in two hours before standard time. The room overlooking
the via Nazionale, was very quiet, beautiful, very contemporary,
luxuriously decorated and spacious. The bathroom whilst
smaller than the hotel we had stayed in the week previous
whilst in Rome, was great with a top class spec and design.
Having visited Rome on many occasions and being familiar
with the vagaries in hotel class and standards, I am recommending
this hotel to anyone who will listen. I found the staff
to be extra attentive and genuinely welcoming, booking a
great retaurant and club for us with instant understanding
and effeciency, the views from the roof top terrace were
great also.”

“We
stayed for two nights at the La Griffe in Mar 06. We had
switched from another hotel which had not been up to scratch
and where the dust had aggravated my wife's asthma. We checked
out La Griffe online and got the latest last minute discounted
rates then went round in person to check it out and negotiate!
We were shown round several rooms and eventually got down
to 150 Euros / night for a superior room on a B&B basis.
(This was also the rate we paid on check out - ie there
were no "taxes" or any extras added on to the
bill). The hotel is very smart, clean and comfortable with
trendy designer rooms and I would quite happily return to
this hotel. The room floors are tiled/marble rather than
carpets which suited us. Some of the superior rooms have
just showers - some have baths. If you have a preference
it is worth checking at the front desk.”

“We
stayed in a “superior” junior suite for the
rugby match Italy v England. We were absolutely delighted
with the room we were given as it was done on a split level
basis - with a staircase leading up to the bedroom level.
We paid 250 Euros a night but it was worth it for the comfort
and location of the Griffe Hotel. We did consider the Executive
rooms which apparently have some extra floor space which
is nice but the “superior” size was ok. Having
seen several superior rooms they do differ slightly in size
and view. Obviously the online price depends on how full
the hotel is and apparently most weekends i.e. Friday and
Saturday night the hotel is full.
Location wise it is on Nazionale which is just round the
corner from the main Termini station (approx 10 minutes
walk) or you can take the Metro to Republicca (line A) which
is one stop from Termini and approx. 3 minutes on foot from
the hotel. This makes it particulary easy for airport transfers
as most coach/train options from either of the two Rome
airports will run to Termini.
It is a good location for exploring both the historic centre
and jumping on the metro to go further afield. Also being
next to Termini means that several bus routes pass in front
of the hotel going towards places like Piazza Navona/Pantheon
- which otherwise are approx 20-25 minute walk.
Breakfast was ok - probably above average for a Rome hotel.
Selection of cereal, yoghurts, pastries and some rolls.
Hot options were scrambled egg and sausage for which you
pay a supplement…we didn’t bother preferring
the Italian breakfast whilst in Rome. We will return to
Rome in 2 years for the next England rugby match and will
stay at La Griffe Hotel where the staff and service made
us feel right at home whilst in Rome.”
